JANET HOLT Regulatory Affairs, Truth in Medicine Rancher, Business Owner, Pelvic Mesh Patient and Advocate Dear Supporter, “Truth In Medicine Incorporated” is a registered non-profit patient advocacy organization, which educates the public about the potential risks and complications from the implantation of synthetic surgical mesh into the human body. We also educate and support patients who have already been harmed by surgical implantation of synthetic mesh. Our group has been working diligently to raise awareness of the problems with synthetic surgical mesh, and to try to bring about changes in its approval, marketing, and (mis)use. We have met with the FDA’s Surgical Mesh Investigative Team on multiple occasions, and were directly involved in the Synthetic Surgical Mesh Public Health Notification warning of the risks and complications of Transvaginal Placement of mesh issued in October 2008. Truth in Medicine created a Worldwide Registry of complications due to synthetic surgical mesh implantation and will soon publish an analysis of the data showing autoimmune disease as a result of mesh implantation. Please understand that Truth in Medicine has no sponsor with deep pockets; we are not funded by any government entity, company, or hospital. We are mesh patients who work together to make a difference for others. The Capitol Hill briefing raised the awareness of our elected representatives of the impact of untested medical devices on all Americans and in particular, a vulnerable aging population. We look forward to your continued support of our ground breaking work at the FDA, in Congress and our ongoing patient advocacy! Respectfully, Lana C. Keeton President and Founder Truth in Medicine Incorporated 1521 Alton Road, #198 Miami Beach, FL 33139
